Pros:

Obviously with these treadmills, the main pro is price. Almost anyone can afford to buy a Weslo - even if you're on a strict budget. So that appeals to people. And in this economy, that may be all that some people can afford.

However, also consider the cost of your time - to transport the treadmill (Most treadmills at this price point will not come with shipping. You'll either have to bring it home yourself or pay a whopping shipping charge for the store to do it.)

Cons - A Lot of Them

The main con is also the main pro - price. You get what you pay for with fitness equipment - and a cheap treadmill is not going to hold up well over the long term.

This is often seen in the warranty - most Weslo Cadence treadmills come with extremely short (i.e. 90 day) warranties. Which means you're out the money to fix it if the treadmill breaks down after 3 months (a very real possibility).

Also, Cadence treadmills tend to have very small belts which don't give you a lot of room to move. Taller users or runners will feel like they're falling off the treadmill.

Motor powers tend to be very low on these treadmill which again means you're wearing out the treadmill faster, especially if you use the treadmill frequently for longer periods of time..

The last problem is that these treadmills are very simple. You get few - if any - bells and whistles like built-in workouts, heart rate monitors - even automatic incline changes.

Bottom Line:

Saving money on a treadmill is a great thing. But when you consider that you could get a Proform for a couple hundred more which offers larger belts, longer warranties, stronger motors, more bells and whistles - and usually even Free Shipping - it seems more than worth it to spend a bit more.

A treadmill is an investment in your health - a long term investment that pays huge dividends over time. So if you can afford to spend a bit more and get a treadmill that you'll enjoy using, do it.
